The marking of “Golden September”, the month of raising awareness about children’s cancer, began on Tuesday evening with the illumination of buildings in several cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, including Mostar’s Old Bridge.
“The goal of ‘Golden September’ is to raise awareness about all aspects of the fight against childhood cancer, both during the hospital stay and the period of return to the home after treatment. The fact that three out of four children win the fight against cancer speaks for itself. For the fourth family, the unthinkable happens. We have planned many activities in September because we want to paint this September golden, raise the awareness of our society and send a strong message that there are different lives full of difficulties after cancer, both in three children who are successfully cured and in families of children who lose the battle,” is stated by the association “Heart for Children with Cancer”.
Activities planned for September began with the illumination of buildings in support of children suffering from cancer. In addition to the Old Bridge, the National Museum, the Academy of Fine Arts and the Building of the Institutions of BiH in Sarajevo, the building of the Cantonal Chamber of Commerce in Tuzla and the Captain’s Tower in Bihac were illuminated as well.
