Great Doctor Mehmed Gribajcevic passed away in Sarajevo

The great gastroenterologist doctor Mehmed Gribajcevic passed away in Sarajevo on Saturday.

Gribajcevic finished primary and secondary school in Sarajevo, and in 1969 he graduated from the Medical Faculty of the University of Sarajevo. He specialized in internal medicine in 1977 at the University Clinical Center in Sarajevo.

From 1978 to 1980 he completed his postgraduate research studies at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Zagreb, and his doctorate in 1984.

A year earlier, at the Medical Faculty of the University of Sarajevo, he was elected an assistant in gastroenterohepatology. In 1989, he was elected professor of gastroenterohepatology at the Medical Faculty of the University of Sarajevo.

He worked at the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo (KCUS). Mehmed Gribajcevic is the winner of the prestigious “Isa-beg Ishakovic” award, which is awarded every year to prominent humanists and deserving citizens. Gribajcevic also served as Minister of Health of Sarajevo Canton (1996-1998).
