The Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations in the Council of Ministers, Stasa Kosarac, talked on Monday in Sarajevo with the delegation of the Malaysian Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), led by Ambassador Zakri Jafar, about the export of beef from BiH to Malaysia, since veterinary certificates between BiH and Malaysia have been harmonized, Biznis Info reports.

The meeting, which was also attended by the Director of the Veterinary Office of BiH Ljubomir Kalaba, expressed readiness to intensify and accelerate activities related to the export of meat from BiH to Malaysia, and pointed out that the competent inspectors from Malaysia could arrive in BiH in the next month if epidemiological conditions permit.

During the day, Kosarac requested that the Veterinary Office, through the Embassy of Malaysia in BiH, to send an invitation letter to the competent authorities in this country for the competent Malaysian inspectors to visit slaughterhouses and meat processing facilities in Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH to enable the export of beef.

“Opening new markets for the placement of domestic products is one of the measures to protect domestic production. Therefore, we are making maximum efforts to define the Malaysian market as a new market for meat producers and processors from the Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH, in order to enable them to continue doing business and contribute to reducing market surpluses caused by the corona virus pandemic,” said Kosarac.
