Germany donates 60,000 Euros as Emergency Aid to Bosnia in Fight against Coronavirus

The German Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ms. Margret Webber, and the Regional Director of the Arbeiter Samariter Bund (ASB), Elmir Bojadzic, signed a contract approving a total of 60,000 euros as emergency aid in the fight against the coronavirus.

The donation is intended for five hospitals throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina: Cantonal hospitals “Dr. Irfan Ljubijankić ”in Bihać and“ Dr. Safet Mujić ”in Mostar, University Hospital in Mostar, PHI Hospital“ Serbia ”in East Sarajevo and General Hospital“ Prim. dr. Abdulah Nakaš ”in Sarajevo.

These funds will be used to support the five listed hospitals during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the humanitarian organization ASB has been approved funds in the total amount of about 430,000 EUR, of which about 28,000 EUR refers to projects related to the pandemic.

On May 3, 2021, Ambassador Webber signed another contract with the Help Association to support health care institutions in BiH in the amount of EUR 55,000.

It is about providing support to the Institute for Transfusion Medicine of the Federation of BiH and hospitals in Travnik and Nova Bila. Health care institutions in the Goražde region are additionally assisted.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic, the humanitarian organization “Help” has implemented projects worth a total of 220,000 EUR.

In 2020, the German Embassy funded micro-projects to help fight the pandemic worth € 189,000.

For 2021, it is planned to support micro-projects related to the fight against the pandemic in the amount of a total of 156,200 EUR. In addition, in November 2020, 12 respirators with a total value of EUR 350,000 were distributed.

In January 2021, 50 fans and 10,000 pulse oximeters worth about 530,000 EUR were donated.

In addition, Germany will donate 6.5 million protective masks worth a total of over € 4.4 million, as well as 36,480 rapid coronavirus tests worth € 151,000.
