A meeting on the topic EYOF 2019 was held in the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH, with the aim of solving the request by the European Olympic Committee which requires from the organizers of the Festival to provide financial guarantee for organizational budget amounting to 12.000.000 BAM.
During the meeting, key documents were presented, undoubtedly showing the readiness of pertinent ministries for the organization of this most significant sport event since the Olympic Games in 1984.
Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH first undertook concrete measures through the Council of Ministers of BiH, which reached a Decision on allocation of funds for EYOF 2019 amounting to 1.900.000 BAM during four years.
Moreover, a pleasant surprise at yesterday’s meeting was the addressing by the Minister in the Sarajevo Canton Mirvad Kurić and the Decision by the Government of the Sarajevo Canton which gave a guarantee for the amount of 1.320.000 BAM, also for four years of organization.
By the Decision of the Assembly, the City of Sarajevo allocated the amount of 950.000 BAM, and the City of East Sarajevo the amount of 500.000 BAM.
Mentioned financial guarantees are a clear indicator to the European Olympic Committee that BiH, i.e. the pertinent ministries for sport, are making evident efforts towards completing the financial construction of the Project. Participation fees for every participant in the Festival, amounting to circa 2.500.000 BAM, should also be added to these budgets.
Entity ministries of sport also gave support and should provide 1.500.000 BAM each. These guarantees are expected soon.
Minister of Culture and Sports of FBiH Zora Dujmović assumed the obligation to notify the FBiH Government and demand concrete, not principled support, while the Minister of Civil Affairs of BiH Adil Osmanović added and clearly stated the commitment of the FBiH Government led by Prime Minister Novalić to support this largest sports project in BiH since the Olympics in 1984.
Minister of Family, Youth and Sports of Republika Srpska Jasmina Davidović sent a written apology for not being able to attend the meeting. The letter also included the principle consent by the Ministry for participation in financial and organizational support for this Project, which represents another confirmation of the Decision by the National Assembly of RS on the support for the EYOF project.
President of the Olympic Committee of BiH Marijan Kvesić warned about the seriousness of the situation, short deadlines, as well as the data that the mentioned provided guarantees and report of the company EYOF 2019 Ltd. will be analyzed in detail at today’s meeting of the Executive Board of the European Olympic Committee which is to be held in Tarragona, Spain.
