Inspectors of the Service for Foreigners, carrying out intensified operational activities aimed at controlling the movement and stay of foreigners in the Una-Sana Canton (USK), determined that several migrants were staying in abandoned facilities at the Bosanska Bojna site, near the border with the Republic of Croatia.

Considering that the migrants illegally stayed in facilities where there were no minimum conditions for their stay during the winter, the Service initiated and coordinated a series of activities on their relocation from the mentioned locality, and care in temporary reception centers Borici and Sedra which are intended for families and vulnerable categories of migrants.

In the last three days, the Service for Foreigners Affairs, in cooperation with the BiH Border Police, the USC Ministry of Interior and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), relocated 53 migrant families with a total of 199 members, including 155 children from the site to temporary reception center.

During the implementation of these activities, two unaccompanied minors were identified and assigned a temporary guardian. All migrants were taken care of and, with the necessary medical triage, placed in the isolation part of these centers in accordance with epidemiological measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The capacities for accommodation of migrants in the territory of the USC are completely filled and more than 3,200 migrants are currently staying in them, the Service for Foreigners Affairs of BiH stated.
