86 New Cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Sarajevo Canton

According to the data of the Public Health Institute of Canton Sarajevo, in the past 24 hours, 86 new cases of coronavirus infection in the Sarajevo Canton were confirmed on 770 processed tests.

Of these, 53 persons were previously in self-isolation and belonged to family clusters or were in contact with previously ill persons. In the same period, 142 patients recovered.

Unfortunately, two patients died due to coronavirus infection, which increased the total number of deaths from this disease to 395 people. There are currently 174 patients in hospital, of which 120 in clinics and in the Isolation of the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo in Podhrastovi, and 54 in the General Hospital “Prof. Dr. Abdulah Nakas”.

Of this number, eight patients use mechanical respirator support when breathing, while 14 patients are on noninvasive ventilation. Last day, 15 people were released from hospital treatment.

Cumulatively, so far in the Sarajevo Canton, 24,550 people have been infected with the COVID-19 infection, 23,084 have been cured, while 1,071 cases are currently active.

There are currently 1,204 people in self-isolation. The Institute of Public Health emphasizes once again the importance of wearing a mask properly, physical distance, frequent and thorough hand washing, all with the aim of preventing the spread of COVID-19 infection.
