The President of the Roma Information Centre, Dervo Sejdic, sent an open letter to the administrations of the European Union(EU), the United States (U.S.), and Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).
“Dear concerned gentlemen, you from the EU administration, you from the U.S. administration, you politicians of BiH, if you do not stop the inflammatory rhetoric in BiH as soon as possible, Roma, and I believe many other citizens, are leaving or will leave BiH in the future,” he stated.
Sejdic told that as officials meet in Washington, Brussels, Belgrade, Zagreb, and Sarajevo to express their concerns, without hope of resolving the political, economic, and social crisis, it is an increasingly common question that even school-age children ask – “Will there be a war?”
“The Roma community, as well as a large number of citizens of BiH, have never lived in greater misery and poverty, all thanks to blockades and nationalist rhetoric. Our children and we have learned to go through hunger and misery, poverty and exclusion, but we will not allow that because of your personal and political interests, we die tomorrow because you cannot agree with each other”, Sejdic added.
He called on all politicians to stop these stories and media harassment of citizens, until it is too late and there is little hope for a normal life in BiH.
“Start solving real problems, this difficult economic crisis, which will be worse and worse every day. Dear European and world officials, dear BiH politicians, none of you will be able to stop the citizens of BiH at the borders of the EU, even if they were fenced with barbed wire or concrete walls, because we will no longer wait for you to have mercy and save us from the death camp, ” it was stated in the letter signed by a concerned citizen Dervo Sejdic.
