The Member of the British Parliament Bob Stewart and the Ambassador of the United Kingdom (UK) for Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Matthew Field presented, on behalf of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the Order of Honorary Member of the Most Outstanding Order of the British Empire to Muhidin Tutic.

Tutic received this prestigious recognition for his support of the UK forces during the 1990s and his continued efforts in the post-war period to preserve the memory of members of the UKArmed Forces who lost their lives in BiH.

The honorary title is awarded to non-British nationals for their work of importance to the UK.

On the occasion of the award ceremony, Ambassador Matthew Field said that he was extremely pleased that the work of Muhidin Tutic was recognized in this way.

”I am very glad that the significant contribution to the relations between the UK and BiH made by Muhidin Tutic was recognized in this way. During the conflict of the 1990s, and in the years that followed, he provided invaluable support to members of the UK Armed Forces in their efforts to maintain the hard-won peace in this country. No one has done more to preserve the memory and legacy of those individuals from the UK Armed Forces who made the greatest sacrifice, giving their lives for peace. In addition, he helped their families and comrades-in-arms. Mr. Tutic can wear his medal with great pride because it represents the gratitude of the citizens of the UK,”Field stated.

The Order of the British Empire is a British knightly order established by King George V in 1917 with the aim of recognizing the thousands of people who served in non-combat positions during the First World War.

Today, the leader of the Order is Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty personally approved the award, on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, who again acted on the advice of the Recognition Committee, which consists of senior civil servants and independent experts.
