A specialized unit of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BIH AF) and a team that is part of the Balkan Medical Task Force (BMTF) were sent off today from Rajlovac to the Republic of Turkey on a humanitarian mission to support Turkish search and rescue efforts in the areas affected by the earthquake.
BiH Minister of Defense Zukan Helez, Turkish Ambassador to BiH Sadik Babur Girgin, Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of BiH, Colonel General Senad Mašović, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of BiH, Major General Ivica Jerkić, Commander of the Operational Command of the Armed Forces of BiH, Major General Radovan Ilić, and Turkish Military Attache to BiH Mustafa Sitki Tatar.
Minister Helez thanked the members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and their families for their courage and determination to face all the challenges that await them on this humane mission.
General Mašović told the members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina to protect primarily themselves and their lives, and to do their best to save the victims, stressing that this is an extremely demanding psychophysical job and wished them luck in carrying out the tasks of the mission.
Commander of the Armed Forces of BiH, Colonel Miralem Čanić, pointed out that all members of the Armed Forces of BiH who are going on this mission are aware of the situation and are ready to do their best to mitigate the tragic consequences.
The specialized unit of the Armed Forces of BiH has ten specialists, while the BiH AF team which is part of the Balkan Medical Task Forces (BMTF) has nine medical specialists.
