Activists from Sarajevo: ‘Nationalism Kills!’

downloadOn occasion of the marking of ninth November as the International Day Against Fascism and Anti-Semitism, activists from the Association for Social Research and Communication organized a peace action called ‘Nationalism Kills’ in front of the Cathedral in Sarajevo.

The aim of the peace action is to send a message to the public that fascism is promoted today through nationalism, disastrous for any society and individuals, but also to honor victims of fascism so that in the future they could build a healthier community and to promote positive social values.

Coordinator of the association Edvin Kanka Ćudić said that the aim of the action is to recall that B&H for 20 years already lives in ideas of violence and is building a culture of violence.

‘’The aim of this organization is, and it should also be the goal of the NGO sector in B&H, to build a culture of nonviolence for the future’’, he said.

He said that this is the first such significant manifestation of the association.

The international day against fascism and anti-Semitism is on 9 November, and is marked in commemoration of Kristalnacht in Nazi Germany on 9 and 10 November 1938, when persecution of Jewish communities took place.
