The first ore concentrate within the Vares project in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) was produced on Tuesday, February 27th, 2024, the company Adriatic Metals BiH announced.

The Vares ore processing facility will continue to gradually increase capacity over the next few months, to a nominal processing capacity of approximately 65,000 tons per month by the fourth quarter of 2024.

”I am delighted to be able to share information with the public about another key step we have achieved with the production of the first concentrate within the Vares Project. The ore processing plant in Vares was designed and built using the latest technology from leading manufacturers in the industry and in compliance with the highest standards related to health and safety protection. I am proud of what my team has achieved and I want to thank them for their hard work and dedication,” said Paul Cronin, general manager of Adriatic Metals BiH.

This is a significant success for Adriatic Metals BiH, the local community in Vares and the state of BiH. The Vares project is one of the largest post-war investments in BiH, which brings significant economic and social benefits.

During the project, Adriatic Metals BiH committed to the employment of local staff, cooperation with local suppliers, cooperation with authorities at all levels and communities, as well as the application of the most modern mining technology. This strategy not only promotes economic development, but also ensures benefits for the Vares community long after the end of the mine’s life.

In the coming months, the company will continue further optimization of the processing plant, along with the expansion of underground works in order to achieve the nominal production capacity in the fourth quarter of 2024.
