The Air Navigation Services Agency (BHANSA) is planning strategic capital investments this year that will result in a significant improvement of these services at all four airports in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“The strategic plan of capital investments for the Sarajevo location includes the design of a completely new control tower at the Sarajevo International Airport, at a new location that the Agency will determine in cooperation with the Airport, and until the realization of this large project, work on the rehabilitation of the existing control tower is planned,” the director of BHANSA Davorin Primorac explained.
According to him, the rehabilitation of the existing control tower will significantly improve the working conditions for the employees of the Sarajevo Approach and Airport Flight Control Unit and improve both the provision of services in air navigation and the safety of air traffic.
“Reconstruction, renovation and expansion of the facilities is also planned in Banja Luka, where preparatory works are also planned for the introduction of radar control in the Banja Luka Approach and Airport Flight Control Unit.
In Tuzla, despite the pandemic, we completed the renovation and modernization of the control tower in 2020, and further plans include the renovation and modernization of the associated buildings of the control tower and the weather park,” said Primorac.
BHANSA is also planning significant investments in the Ortiješ location in Mostar, where the Agency’s headquarters are located.
“At the location of BHANSA’s headquarters in Mostar, a complete revitalization and renovation of the existing outdated and neglected buildings is planned, as well as the construction of a new and modern amphitheater for the needs of the air traffic controller training center, i.e. the future school center.
Furthermore, the rehabilitation and modernization of the control tower in the Mostar Approach and Airport Air Traffic Control Unit are planned, as well as the expansion of the existing premises of the ATC Simulator building to accommodate new tower simulators necessary for continuous training of air traffic control personnel and pseudo pilots,” Primorac points out.
In addition to affecting the quality of BHANSA’s work, all these activities will significantly change the appearance of the airports in Tuzla, Banja Luka, Mostar and Sarajevo, Fena reports.
