Almost a Million Tourists Arrivals in the First 8 Months of 2018

In the period from January – August 2018 tourists realized 997,308 tourists arrivals which represent the increase by 12.8% and 2,122,675 overnight stays which is an increase by 14.7 as compared to the same period of 2017.

The number of domestic tourist nights increased by 16.8% and the number of foreign tourist nights increased by 13.8% as compared to the same period of 2017. Domestic tourist’s share of total number of overnight stays was 27.9% and foreign tourists share was 72.1%.

Concerning the structure of foreign tourist nights, most of them (51.6%) were realised by tourists from Croatia (11.1%), Serbia (8.1%), Turkey (6.9%), United Arab Emirates (6.0%), Slovenia (5.2%), Poland and Italy (4.9%, each) and Germany 4.5%). Tourists from other countries realised 48.4% of tourist nights.

Regarding the average detention of foreign tourist stays, on the first place comes Malta with an average stay of 5.3 nights, Ireland and Kuweit by 3.7 nights , Qatar with 3.4 nights, France with 3.2 nights and the United Arab Emirates with 3.1 nights.

According to the type of accommodation facility, the highest number of nights was recorded in Hotels and similar accommodation with a share of 90.9%.
