The Assembly of the Independent Union of Aluminij’s Employees has approved the draft of new organizational systematization and adopted a decision to cancel the announced protests, Federal News Agency reports.

“The Assembly of the Independent Union of Aluminij’s Employees, at its session on Thursday, has approved the draft of new job classification. About 500 employees will be declared redundant. They will receive severance pay and be able to exercise their rights,” said the President of the Independent Union of Aluminij’s Employees, Romeo Bioksic.

He added that Aluminij employees have given up on the announced protests.

“Decisions on announced protests for September 3 in front of the HDZ BiH Headquarter and on September 5 in front of the FBiH Government building were canceled because our demands were partially fulfilled, and the Ministry of Interior did not approve protests at the announced locations,” added Bioksic.

According to Bioksic, severance payments will amount to six average salaries or about 8.500 BAM per person.

He also hopes that Aluminij’s Management will be able to find an investor so they are able to restart the production.

“If, however, production does not start by the end of the year, these employees will have the same rights as those who have been declared redundant, and by then they will receive a salary reduced by 50 percent,” added Bioksic.
