Export from Bosnia and Herzegovina to Germany currently amounts to 1.7 billion EUR and the aim is to make it even higher in the coming period; it was pointed out during the Business Forum on “Current challenges in local economy” which was held yesterday in Tuzla, organized by the Representative Office of Germany Economy in BiH (AHKBiH) and the Association Wirthschaftsverein BiH.
Aims of yesterday’s event were promotion of business potentials of the Tuzla region, drawing of attention to the challenges that the local economy faces, and giving recommendations for improvement of competitiveness, with reference to German experiences.
Special part of yesterday’s forum was discussions on business potentials of the most populous canton in the FBiH and their importance for the BiH economy.
According to the Minister of Development and Entrepreneurship of the Tuzla Canton Nermin Hodžić, in 2015 this canton recorded an increase in the export to Germany of 26 percent, and the import in BiH also increased by ten percent.
President of the Association Wirtschaftsverein BiH Snježana Köpruner believes that Germany is one of the most important trade partners for BiH.
Emphasizing that there are many high quality companies in BiH that strive to get on the European market, Köpruner said that BiH employees should be given more understanding from the politics.
“Politics are quite a major problem for us and I think we should unite and make the people in politics aware of that fact, and kindly ask them to help us become more competitive on the market, instead of increasing our unplanned expenses which are now paid almost on everyday basis,” Köpruner said.
