Amra Sabic-El-Rayess calls on Diaspora in the U.S. to send Letter to Biden

Amra Sabic-El-Rayess, a professor at the famous Columbia University in New York, has launched an action that should represent the awakening of diaspora from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) in the United States (U.S.) in the context of the current political and security situation in BiH.

Namely, on a private profile, El-Rayess sent a message primarily to BiH diaspora currently living in the U.S. and asked them to send a letter in a way that will show they are against the destruction of BiH to U.S. President Joe Biden, but also to allsenators and congressmen in that area.

“Please, all of you who are in the U.S., and there are hundreds of thousands of us, send this text ‘GO MIR’ from your phone number to this: 50409 and in your name and based on your address the automatic system will send a letter against the destruction of BiH to addresses of U.S. President Joe Biden and all senators and congressmen in your area. The system is designed to send letters automatically. The whole process takes 30 seconds. It couldn’t be easier, just send the text ‘GO MIR’ to 50409 from your phone. 10.150 letters have already been sent automatically! “ said El-Rayess.

She once again took the opportunity to invite all BiH citizens in the U.S. to be active regarding the situation in BiH.

“Please – get active. Share this on your site even if you’re not in the U.S. because I’m sure you have friends and relatives who are or know someone who is. Send to all possible sides. Spend 30 seconds of your time. Let the U.S. government gets millions of our letters against the demolition of BiH! Share this with your friends from the U.S. Wake up. Prevent the disintegration of BiH in all possible ways, and this kind of mass pressure on U.S.politicians could not be easier. We must send millions of letters, and this is the easiest way to do that, “ she pointed out.

After sending the message, BiH diaspora living in the U.S.should receive confirmation to whom the letters were sent and how many have been sent to President Biden and other politicians so far.

The text of this letter states the following:

Bosnian Serb, Milorad Dodik, is threatening the safety and peace of Bosnians everywhere by threatening to reform the army of Republika Srpska and pull out of the tax administration and judiciary body. This echoes the same measures that Bosnian Serbs took in the ’90s when some of the deadliest atrocities since WWII took place, including genocide, displacement, and ethnic “cleansing.” Bosnia has experienced a war nearly every 50 years, meaning that no generation has ever known peace or the meaning of stability and rebuilding. Bosnia’s crisis in the ’90s was only made worse by international powers not stepping in quickly enough, and I fear it will be the same if action is not taken and Dodik is allowed to repeat history. Other leaders in Bosnia and surrounding countries have also expressed concerns about Dodik’s plans.

I demand that we halt Dodik’s efforts and take measures against the reformation of the Republika Srpska army and subsequent attempts at secession.
