An explosive device was found in the bed of the river Suturlija in Banja Luka, for which it was determined that it dates back to the time of the Second World War.

Members of the Republican Administration of Civil Protection from the Demining Sector will remove this aerial bomb today.

For this reason, certain recommendations for actions during this activity will be valid for some of the inhabitants of the Sibovi settlement.

As pointed out by the Department for Civil Protection Affairs and the Professional Territorial Fire and Rescue Unit, the oldaerial bomb is located in Suturlija at a location above the canyon bathing area at a distance of about 900 meters upstream along the river, from the mouth of Suturlija to Vrbas.

“Based on the proposal of the City Staff for Emergency Situations, and in order to implement security measures and protect the population, an order was issued to carry out a complete, timely, temporary removal (evacuation) of the population on January 4th from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and a ban on staying until 11 a.m. when the signal will be given, i.e. hand-held sirens for the cessation of danger in a radius of up to 300 meters from the location where this bomb is located,” they state from this department.

They stressed that the evacuation of the population and the implementation of security measures in this area will be carried out by the Banja Luka Police Department in accordance with its plan.

“The population of the Sibovi settlement, who lives in the zone of 300 to 500 meters from the location of the removal of the aerial bomb, i.e. in the streets Trla, 1300 Kaplara, and ZarkoZgonjanin, should not leave their residential premises on January 4th from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Also, it is forbidden to stay and move in open space, and it is advised to open windows in residential and other buildings, to stay away from glass surfaces, and to cooperate with public order authorities and other protection and rescue services by following their instructions,“ it was added from the Department, Klix.ba reports.
