Analysis: Revenues of Major Political Parties in BiH

Bosnia and Herzegovina’s (BiH’s) Central Election Commission (CEC) called on political parties to submit financial reports by December 6ththis year.

On that occasion, Klix.ba news website compared the financial reports of key political parties after the 2014 general elections with the last year’s report.

The major part of the budget of most political parties is based on revenues from the public budget, hence obtained on the basis of numerical representation in government institutions. Majority of key parties nearly doubled their budgets in the last three years.

The revenues of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) after the 2014 elections amounted to 2.7 million BAM, of which 1.6 million were in the budget and the revenues of the persons amounted to 855.000 BAM.

For comparison purposes, SDA revenues in 2017 amounted to 4.4 million BAM, of which, 3.4 million BAM from the budget, and 719.000 BAM from other persons.

In three years, the Alliance for Better Future (SBB) has doubled its income. In 2014, the total revenues of this party amounted to slightly more than 900,000 BAM, while party revenues at the end of 2017 amounted to 1,8 million BAM, mostly from the budget.

Democratic Front (DF), the newly founded party, in 2014 had a total revenue of 176,000 BAM, while revenues in 2017 amounted to 1.2 million BAM, of which mainly from the public budget.

SNSD party had revenue of 1.4 million BAM in 2014 and 2.2. million BAM in 2017. Also, HDZ had 1.2 million BAM in 2014, and three years later, 1.9 million BAM.

In 2017, political parties received a total of more than 18 million BAM.
