Archaeological excavations in Srbac will start on 18 March

Preparations for first field surveys have ended, and archaeologists will start excavating on 18 March in Kočićevo in Nova Topola/Srbac, and they will work there until March 30.

The project is being done as a part of the project ”EUROFORM”.

Archaeologist of the Museum of RS Ivana Pandžić said that seven archaeologists from RS and the UK and several students will participate in the excavation.

It is planned that in the period from 18-30 March they explore new 25 m2.

Pandžić noted that in Kočićevo, large amounts of ceramics, bone and quartz material have been founded and also several housing units, all from the Palaeolithic.

She added that during the six years of surveys they registered more than 200 potential spots for excavations.

Pandžić said the cave Klašnica has been explored and that cave Rastuša near Teslić still needs to be explored for at least two years.
