Armed Forces of BiH participate in NATO International Exercise in North Macedonia

This week, the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, within the Balkan Medical Forces (BMTF), are actively participating in the international consequence management exercise “Northern Macedonia 2021”, which is taking place in Ohrid, under the auspices of NATO’s Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Center (EADRCC).

The Balkan Medical Forces are part of a regional project of the Republic of Albania, BiH, Montenegro, Northern Macedonia, the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Slovenia.

Among the participants in the exercise are 15 other countries, members of NATO and the Partnership for Peace (PfP) program, as well as international organizations such as the Center of Excellence for Crisis Management and Disaster Response (CMDR CoE), the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).

The South East Europe Multinational Peacekeeping Brigade (SEEBRIG) and the South East Europe Disaster Preparedness and Prevention Initiative (DPPI SEE), which demonstrate their capacity to manage the consequences of natural disasters. The main objectives of the BMTF in the exercise “Northern Macedonia 2021” are to check the readiness and ability to act in case of natural disaster, in accordance with its defined mission and tasks, practice procedures in cases of mass casualties (MASCAL) and test the effectiveness of information management in these activities. within the BMTF and strengthen cooperation with civilian institutions responsible for disaster response management in Northern Macedonia.
