The BiH Minister for Human Rights and Refugees Damir Ljubić confirmed that people from our country currently in Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro wish to return at least 3.000 BiH citizens who escaped during the war.

He pointed out that many people responded to the public invite that the Minister for Human Rights and Refugees in BiH issued within the Regional Housing Program, which is open until 7 May of this year.

“Most people are interested to return to Derventa, Modriča, Bosanski Brod, and in Central Bosnia. We have secured around 40 million KM. We have been granted a credit loan from the Development Bank of the Council of Europe in the amount of around 40 million Euros’’, said Minister Ljubić for “Dnevni Avaz”.

He said that they expect around 80 million Euros from the Regional Housing Program.

If the law on refugees, displaced persons and returnees in BiH is implemented, which is currently in parliamentary procedures, he said that the return process could be completed in 3 to 4 years.

For the reconstruction of housing and municipal infrastructure in BiH, 1.3 billion KM more is needed.

Ljubić said that currently in collective centers there are around 2.900 families who make up 7.500 members.

‘’At the moment when loan funds in the amount of 40.000 million Euros, which are meant for the closing of the collective centers in BIH, become operative, they will begin to close the centers’’, said the Minister for Human Rights and Refugees in BiH.
