Azra Dedić: First employed Person with Down Syndrome in BiH

azra-dedicYoung people and children with Down syndrome should speak for themselves and express their own needs, instead of letting others speak for them. That is why they must develop the self-representing skills and in order to persevere in this they need support from the entire social community.

These people face many prejudices, such as that they are not capable of living on their own.

Azra Dedić, a girl from Bihać, proves that this is incorrect. As of yesterday, she is the first employed person with Down syndrome in BiH. She was hired by the company cm-cosmetics Ltd Vitez.

Azra Dedić thus became an example of a person with Down syndrome who succeeded in self-representation. She finished elementary and high school and now she is employed.

“Since Azra Dedić became an employee of the company cm in the shop in Bihać, this cm became the favorite shopping spot for many people. We are happy to be the first company in BiH to make such step and we hope that this will be the encouragement to other companies to do the same thing. In this way, cm showed sensibility towards people with the Down syndrome and we are happy for giving Azra the first chance that she eagerly accepted,” stated this company.

Azra is also an international judo champion. She works for eight hours every day and trains judo three times a week after job. As she says, judo is her first and the greatest love.
