Member of the Presidency of BiH, Bakir Izetbegovic, said that Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic was invited to come to BiH several times “and will be welcomed whenever he decides to come.” “The decision is his.”
However, added Izetbegovic in an interview with Nezavisne Novine, “according to Nikolic’s recent acts and words, it seems that he’s not particularly concerned with improving good neighborly relations with the state of BiH on the basis of mutual respect and respect for the interests and feelings of all of its peoples.”
“What was the reason for reception of convicted war criminal Momcilo Krajisnik in the Presidential Cabinet in Serbia? Krajisnik was not condemned by some” Bosniak “court, but the ICTY after a process that lasted for years. Nikolic, in my opinion, unnecessarily took the side of only one politics in BiH. Of course that Serbian President is entitled to a special closeness with the Serbian people, it is implied, but it would be more productive and better for everyone, including BH Serbs, if Nikolic would discourage them in separatism and aspirations for domination over Bosniak people in the RS, reconcile them with other nations, cooperate and receive persons of peace and harmony from BiH, and not convicted war criminals,” said Izetbegovic.
Asked whether Bosniaks as the most numerous nation in BiH, should demonstrate additional dose of tolerance in relation to the other two nations, Izetbegovic responded that Bosniaks like Serbs and Croats under the Constitution of BiH are a constituent nation on the entire territory of BiH.
“Their representatives participate equally in the work and decision-making in all state institutions. Neither the Presidency of BiH nor the Council of Ministers of BiH nor the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH cannot make decisions against the will of the democratically elected or appointed representatives of Bosniak or Serbian or Croatian people, even if the will is opposing the will of the majority of all other representatives of those institutions. Bosniaks respect this and do not challenge this Dayton system of decision-making, which provides defense against domination and protection of vital national interests,” said Izetbegovic.
“We have accepted entity division in Dayton because of peace of all peoples and citizens in BiH, but we did not accept nor will we tolerate to be second-class citizens in the RS entity. Constitutions, both state and entity, guarantee the equality of all of us. However, the reality is quite different,” said Izetbegovic.
