The current security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina was discussed, namely the attack by the leadership of the Bosnian entity Republika Srpska on the constitutional order of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Dayton Peace Agreement.

Bećirović thanked the members of the European Parliament for their support for Bosnia and Herzegovina. He stressed that the secessionist policy of the leadership of the Bosnian entity RS threatens peace and security in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as in the region.

Bećirović stressed that the expulsion of the State Minister for Europe and Climate in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany, Anne Lührmann, from the Bosnian entity of Republika Srpska is a new scandalous move by the leadership of the entity of Republika Srpska. He stressed that any threat to diplomatic representatives is an attack on the very essence of European values.

Bećirović informed the guests that he had sent a request to convene an extraordinary session of the Presidency of BiH, with one item on the agenda: ‘Unlawful actions of the authorities of the entity of Republika Srpska in connection with the visit of the State Minister for Europe and Climate in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany, Dr. Anne Lührmann, to Bosnia and Herzegovina’.

The members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the European Parliament – AFET expressed their full support for the independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and European future of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

They pointed out the importance of the EU being present and active on the ground in Bosnia and Herzegovina in order to provide support to functional state institutions, the rule of law and the fight against attempts at destabilization.
