Bernard-Henri Levy and Predrag Matvejević Honorary Citizens of Sarajevo

gv saThe City Council of Sarajevo today will consider the proposals for the decisions to declare as honorary citizens of Sarajevo the French philosopher Bernard–Henri Lévy and prof. Dr. Predrag Matvejević.

The decision on the recognition an award may be declared even to foreign citizens who have made remarkable contributions to the development and promotion of the City, and to the development of international and interpersonal relations on the principles of solidarity, democracy and humanity.

At the last session of the City Council, the Deputy Chairman of the City Council, Gradimir Gojer addressed the initiative to determine and award will the title honorary citizen the tennis master Dragutin Šurbek.

“Šurbek has gained fame with many victories at the international competitions. He is a great friend of Sarajevo, and his presence on Stens 2013 shows that the best“, said Gojer.

Among  23 issues on the daily agenda, there is also the proposals on the decisions on co-financing the cultural events of special interest for the City of Sarajevo.

Information on the European Charter on gender equality at the local level and the performance of the municipal inspection for the period January-June 2013 will also be discussed by the City Council.
