BiH Ambassadors in Croatia and Russia: The Decision on Candidacy will be conditional

”The decision on candidacy of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) for membership in the European Union (EU), which was ‘made on the basis of wrong assumptions about BiH as a sphere of interest of the West‘, will be conditioned,” BiH Ambassador to Croatia Aleksandar Vranjes and BiH Ambassador to Russia Zeljko Samardzija pointed out.

“Warning for RS”

”By accelerating or granting the status of BiH, they created a new room for maneuver so that they could enter a new period of imposition, conditioning in the direction of some reforms. Only this time it will be through the story of the opening of the chapter, the European path, which should certainly be a warning for the Republika Srpska (RS), by no means spreading optimism,” stated Vranjes.

BiH Ambassador to Russia Zeljko Samardzija said that the EU has many problems of its own.

”This year, talking about the candidate status, when the EU itself has a lot of its own big problems, in which after the exit of Great Britain it started to break up in some way, and who knows what will happen in the future, I don’t think it’s some kind of ‘political robbery‘ for us,” added Samardzija.

A strong argument

The head of the RS representation in Washington, Obrad Kesic, said that the RS can build a more decisive policy on this decision of Brussels in order to protect its interests, and added that it turned out that the legitimate demands of the RS to return BiH to the framework of the Dayton Agreement and to respect it in completely, are not an obstacle to progress towards the EU.

”The RS has now received a very strong argument that we can continue to work, that the RS strengthens its position, that it takes a leading role in solving any problem along the way, and that we solve any obstacle on the path to the EU,” Kesic added, Avaz writes.
