BiH and Montenegro Developing Tourism of South Dinarides Together

The Economics faculty in Sarajevo and the Center for Study and Protection of Birds in Montenegro held an initial meeting within the framework of the project “Eco- and Cultural Tourism in South Dinarides”.

This project is being conducted within the framework of cross-border cooperation between BiH and Montenegro (CBC BIH-MNE) and is financed by the EU.

The activities of the project include four locations: National Park Sutjeska (BiH), Nature Park Hutovo Blato (BiH), National Park Durmitor (Montenegro), and the river Piva and Tivatska Solila (Montenegro).

These locations belong to the most important centers of geological and biological diversity in South East Europe.

The target group that the project intends to support is: representatives of municipalities that comprise the above locations, owners and employees in hotels, restaurants and Eco/Ethno villages in these locations, owners and employees in sports organizations, cycling clubs, nature conservation organizations, fishing clubs and hiking and hunting lodges.

The project partners will, with the help of the representatives of interest groups and experts work on the study of tourism potential in the Southern Dinarides, development of an ecological strategy and cultural tourism in the Southern Dinarides, and preparations of an action plan, development of training and offers. An emphasis is on the collaboration between representatives of the organizations of the two countries, which will help achieve a synergistic effect on the entire area that the project covers.

The project began in February 2013 and will last 12 months.

The total worth of the project is 183.370 euros.
