Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia will not participate in the upcoming CEFTA meetings that will take place in Pristina on November 20thand 21st, as well as at the ministerial meeting within CEFTA week.

This information was confirmed by the Deputy Prime Minister and Trade Minister of Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajic for Tanjug, adding that this the conclusion of a telephone conversation with Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Mirko Sarovic.

“It is pointless to behave as if nothing is happening and the situation is normal, and it is clear to everyone that after the introduction of 10 percent VAT on goods from Serbia and BiH that are imported to Kosovo, this represents the biggest crisis since the beginning of CEFTA agreement,” Ljajic said.

Ljaljic stressed that the common goal of Serbia and BiH is to abolish the previously mentioned measures imposed by institutions in Pristina and then to “start talking, not only about the abolition of barriers but about the common substantial creation of economic space in this part of Europe.”

Next week, Ljajic and Sarovic will meet to set the joint activities that the two countries will take to abolish the disputed taxes introduced by the institutions in Pristina.
