BiH Armed Forces concluded a Weapon Storage Management Course

EUFOR’s Mobile Training Team ‘Ammunition and Weapon Storage Management’ concluded a Basic Weapon Storage Management Course for the Armed Forces of BiH (AFBiH). The course took place from 11 to 27 April in Čapljina transferring knowledge to 13 AFBiH armourers and stockkeepers from all over the country.

Under EUFOR mentoring, current specialized staff educated newly designated armourers and stockkeepers to enable AFBiH to store small arms and light weapons according to international standards as a precondition to ensure expeditious handling of surplus stockpiles. Topics like ballistics, weapon history, administration and stockpiling were outlined. In the practical part of the course hands on storage, distinguishing and matching arms, stockpile administration and transfer procedures were covered.

Since many of the current specialists will retire in the upcoming years, education of the next generation became crucial to manage and dispose the huge stockpiles of war remnants which still can pose a threat to the safe and secure environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
