ana tri?i? babi?-1Within the framework of the working visit to the US, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of BIH and President of the Commission for NATO Integration Process in BiH Ana Trišić-Babić met with Jonathan M. Moore, the Head of the Bureau for South and Central Europe in the State Department.

They spoke of the continuation of the process of Euro Atlantic integration, activities of the Commission for NATO integration process in BIH, and of the current political situation in BIH.

Deputy Minister Ana Trišić-Babić said that, from a strategic perspective, the entire region is moving in the right direction, given the successful completion of negotiations between Pristina and Belgrade. She especially addressed the fact that Croatia will become an EU member on 1 July.

She expressed hope that soon the process will start on registration of military property, the implementation of which was agreed on in March of last year by the six political parties, and which could be a positive sign for the activation of MAP and the continuation of NATO integration.

She pointed out that between BiH and neighboring countries there are no open questions or unresolved issues. There were no obstacles which would prevent or slow down the road towards Euro Atlantic integration, but that from the other side it is necessary to find internal consensus and political will to continue the process that had already begun.

The Head of the Bureau for South and Central Europe in the State Department Jonathan Moore conveyed the attitude of the State Department and the American administration that it is necessary to launch a process as soon as possible of the registration of military property. This would show clear commitment to bring into action a political agreement and to prove BiH as a credible and reliable partner in the process of NATO integration.

He stressed that it is important for the continuation of the EU process of integration in terms of reaching a political agreement around the implementation of the ruling at the European Court of Human Rights for “Sejdić-Finci.”
