Members of the Expert and Legal Team in preventing the construction of a landfill for radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel on Trgovska Gora pointed out that they plan to visit Cerkezovac on Trgovska Gora again next month.

”We were encouraged by the quarterly plan of the Expert Team with clearly defined and decomposed activities. This is proof that domestic experts have taken their task seriously, and that they will continue to be fully mobile in order to ultimately have adequate results of the necessary research and expert analysis,”said the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Stasa Kosarac, who organized a meeting of the Coordination Body in Sarajevo, where reports on the work done so far and planned activities were presented.

The members of the Coordination Body were informed that the Legal Team adopted the Draft Strategy for Legal Protection of BiH interests in relation to the issue of radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel disposal on Trgovska Gora. In this regard, the interlocutors exchanged views on further implementation of the necessary activities on the basis of international conventions, to which BiH is a signatory, with a focus on the Aarhus and Espoo conventions.

”The draft strategy will be submitted to the relevant entity ministries for opinion, after which we will send this document, together with the reports of the Legal and Expert Team, to the BiH Council of Ministers for adoption by the end of the month,”Kosarac stated.

It was also pointed out that BiH is not lagging behind Croatia in terms of activities aimed at protecting its interests, in accordance with the provisions of the mentioned conventions.

”It is important to us that we are not at a standstill, and that we adequately monitor and react to the activities carried out by Croatia. I am grateful for the engagement of competent institutions and bodies at all levels of government in BiH in resolving this issue. Our priority is to protect the health of our citizens and preserve the environment. We will not give up on that,” said Kosarac, BHRT writes.
