BiH got its first European Champion in Sochi

Mirnesa Bektas won the title of European Champion in karate in the competition U-21.

She is a member of the Karate Club Bosnia and she won the medal at the 45th European Championship for cadets, juniors and U-21 competitors in Sochi (Russia), in the category +68 kg.

Mirnesa was born in Vitez, she learned her first karate moves in KC Mladost Vitez. This karate club was founded back in 2004 by Aldin Adilovic and numerous parents who wanted their children to be engaged in this sport.

Besides the gold medal of Mirnesa Bektas, the national team of BiH returned from Sochi with another medal. On the first day of the EP, a member of the KC Slavija from East Sarajevo, Maksim Avramovic, won a bronze medal in the cadet competition, in the category of up to 70 kg.

Juniors performed on the second day of the EP, on Saturday, and they did not achieve noticeable success.

The Delegation of Karate Federation of BiH to the EP had 39 members.
