Bosnia and Herzegovina, a country rich in water resources, imported as much as 60,479,292 liters/kilograms of water last year, or 60,679 tons of this natural resource.

According to the official data of the BiH Council of Ministers, it is about imported water in the amount of 34.8 million BAM!

A total of 41 companies in the entire territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, according to data from the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina that were submitted to the Parliament, and based on the parliamentary question of representative Šemsudin Mehmedović, imported water from a number of countries around the world, Fokus reported.

Thus, the mentioned companies, which operate in BiH, imported water from Serbia, Slovenia, Austria, Croatia, Italy, Hungary, Belgium, Turkey, France, Kosovo, and even from Saudi Arabia! According to these data, some embassies and international organizations imported water from Saudi Arabia to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

It is interesting, for example, that the company Sarajevo kiseljak, which produces mineral water, imported water from Croatia and Serbia. According to these data, Sarajevo kiseljak is the largest importer of water in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Last year, they imported water worth over 10 million BAM from Croatia and almost one million BAM from Serbia.

On the other hand, according to data from the Council of Ministers of BiH, our country exported 49,346,195 kilograms or 49,346 tons of water during 2023.

If we compare the import and export data, we come to the conclusion that it is a considerable deficit, since the import of water is about 11 million kilograms or 11,000 tons of water greater than the export.

We have exported water to, among others, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, North Macedonia, Great Britain, Montenegro, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, and the United Arab Emirates.
