Bosnia and Herzegovina joins the global initiative of the United States of America against the apprehension and deportation of persons on the territory of Ukraine under the control of the Russian Federation, at the invitation of Antony Blinken, Secretary of State of the United States of America.
“We join in condemning the activities of the so-called filtration operation for the detention and forced deportation of Ukrainian civilians to Russia,” announced the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The filtering process reportedly involves temporary detention, data collection, interrogation and, in some cases, abuse of detainees, and takes place in various temporary processing centers – often in parallel with the processing of internally displaced persons and refugees.
“Due to unexpected Ukrainian resistance, the infiltration plan is estimated to have spread to hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian civilians. Since the beginning of the Russian war in Ukraine, it is estimated that infiltration operations have been identified in at least 18 possible locations in eastern Ukraine and western Russia.
We are against any violation of international law, especially if it is a violation of the human rights of civilians located in the occupied territories,” the Information Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH states.
