BiH Minister of Civil Affairs Sredoje Nović participated in Moscow in the work of the conference of ministers of cultures of Council of Europe.
The theme of the conference was – new challenges for governments, especially ministries of culture in promoting approaches and participation in culture in the time of social, economic and financial changes, taking into consideration possibilities of digital age.
At the conference, Nović noted that the economic crisis has been strongly felt in the sector of culture because of budget cuts.
‘Regardless the fact that we are aware that investments to culture do not mean just spending but also investing in development and new jobs, however, today we expect from the sector of culture to move towards the market and seek additional funding sources and in that way to find new strategies of sustainability’ , said Nović.
He concluded that BiH is an example of multiculturalism, and that the cultural wealth is something that BiH wants to put in the function of sustainable development.
In Moscow, declaration of the 10th conference of Council of Europe for ministers of culture (Moscow Agenda) was signed and it stipulates that within the Council of Europe, the approach to culture and participation in cultural life is to improve. They also noted the need for promoting free access to culture, participation in cultural life and freedom of cultural expression and creation and promotion of creativity and cultural diversity.
