The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH and the Veterinary Office of BiH officially requested from the European Commission to send a mission to approve the export of red meat, which includes meat of cattle, sheep and goats, from BiH to the EU.
Inspectors of the Directorate for Health and Food of the European Commission conducted all of the planned controls in the previous period and assured that the most important preconditions were fulfilled for BiH to receive the approval for the export of meat and products of animal origin after obtaining the license for EU exports of fish products, milk, honey, poultry meat and poultry meat products, fruits and vegetables and potatoes.
“This is a very important moment for agriculture and the economy in general, because sending an official invitation to the mission of the Directorate of the European Commission, just like in the previous cases, means that we finished all the requested procedures and that the system largely advanced. We need to finish the so-called zero census, since it is the latest activity before obtaining the permission. Thus BiH would fully satisfy all standards for the export of all products of plant and animal origin,” stated Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, Mirko Sarovic.
To recall, the European Commission previously approved the so-called monitoring plan for residues of red meat for BiH, and competent authorities carried a number of activities in the previous period to improve the system of official controls in the sector of animal health and production of food of animal origin.
“Considering all of the above-mentioned facts, as well as the strong interest of our producers for meat of cattle, sheep and goats for export to the EU market, we would like to invite you to come and conduct a mission, in order to approve the export of meat from BiH,” as stated in the letter addressed to Directorate for Health and Food of EC.
