BiH has potential and attractive projects, while Chinese companies have capital

In today’s discussion between the minister of communications and transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Ismir Jusko and the ambassador of the People’s Republic of China Chen Bo, mutual interestedness in developing cooperation in the fields of transport infrastructure in BiH, energetics and development of a 4G network was confirmed.

Minister Jusko expressed his expectations that Chinese companies and investors can find interestedness in the construction of the corridor VC, a capital and the most important infrastructural project in BiH. He also noted that there are plenty of still unbuilt parts of the highway and that is exactly what can be attractive for Chinese investors and construction companies.

Besides that highway, Jusko listed the highway Orasje-Brcko-Tuzla-Zepce, which would continue onto the corridor V5 in Zepce, as the second most important project.

Jusko also noted the major problems when it comes to the construction of highways in BiH, that is the used up model of financing them through credits from international financial institutions, which could be changed by introducing the model of a public-private partnership and concessions.

He also expressed hope that a large number of Chinese companies can participate in the development of the 4G network in BiH, not just to install the equipment but also to upkeep and update it, as well as to educate local workers.

Ambassador Bo highlighted how construction of transport infrastructure in BiH is a field in which China and BiH could have terrific cooperation and very successful projects, as well as that every model of financing and construction are welcomed by Chinese companies.

The Ministry of Communications and Traffic of BiH and the Embassy of China can support every type of cooperation and provide all sorts of support relating to projects on the Corridor VC, as well as those relating to airports and electronic communication in BiH, they concluded.

Bo is convinced that BiH has potential and attractive projects, while Chinese companies have capital, experience and developed technology, which they have shown all over the world by participating in the financing and construction of major infrastructural projects, including some in the region, namely Serbia, Montenegro and Macedonia.
