BiH records Increase in Number of Tourists in February

93,943 tourists visited Bosnia and Herzegovina in February, which is 5.5 percent more than in the same month last year, and 3.7 percent more than in January.

Tourists spent 209,309 overnight stays in February, which is 0.8 percent less compared to the same month last year, and 1.4 percent less than in January, the BiH Statistics Agency announced.

Domestic guests accounted for 35 percent of overnight stays, and foreign guests for 65 percent.

The number of overnight stays by domestic tourists in February was 4.3 percent higher compared to the same month in 2023, and 4.7 percent lower than in January, while the number of overnight stays by foreign tourists was 1 percent lower compared to February last year, and by 0.5 percent higher than in January.

Among foreign guests, the most overnight stays were made by tourists from Croatia – 32.6 percent, followed by tourists from Serbia 21.2 percent, Slovenia 8.2 percent, Turkey 4.8 percent, Germany 2.8 percent and Great Britain 2.7 percent. while tourists from other countries accounted for 27.7 percent of overnight stays.

When it comes to the length of stay of foreign guests in BiH, tourists from New Zealand are in first place with 10.9 nights, followed by tourists from Iran with 5.7 nights, Austria 4.4 nights, Bahrain 3.6 nights, Romania and Qatar with an average of 3.5 nights each.

In February, 19,162 rooms, apartments and places for camping were available to tourists in BiH, which is 2.1 percent more than in the same month last year, and 42,378 available beds, which is 2.8 percent more than in February 2023.

The net occupancy rate of rooms in February was 23.7 percent, and of permanent beds 18.1 percent, while in the same month last year, the occupancy rate of rooms was 24 percent, and of permanent beds 19.2 percent.

The largest number of overnight stays in BiH in February was in hotels and similar accommodation with a participation of 95.2 percent.
