Chairman of Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Zvizdic met with Menachem Rosensaft, the Deputy Director of the World Jewish Congress (WJC).
During the meeting in Washington, the two interlocutors spoke about the possibilities of cooperation between the World Jewish Congress and BiH, as well as the importance of combating anti-Semitism, fascism, all forms of hatred, genocide and xenophobia.
They both agreed that the issue of genocide in BiH is an extremely painful topic and requires proper treatment.
Rosensaft emphasized that the World Jewish Congress fully understands the events in Srebrenica and that Congress will help the Srebrenica Memorial and to discuss possible solutions to the issue of property restitution in BiH.
Zvizdic handed a copy of the Sarajevo Haggadah to Menachem Rosensaft and said that it was an invaluable masterpiece created in Spain in the 14th century and found refuge in the Sarajevo National Museum in 1894.
“The Sarajevo Haggadah has become a symbol of the survival and perseverance of the city and that is why it is very important to us,” said Zvizdic at the end of the meeting.
