Bijeljina Asks for Help, Sava Exceeded 9 Meters: Evacuation of 10 000 People Starts

74ede09339e2be54ee4b11eef153d569Mayor of Bijeljina, Mićo Mićić said that embankment on was slackened and that evacuation of population is starting, announces RTRS.

“Places for evacuation of population will be secured and approximately 10 000 people will be evacuated. Sava river’s level is higher than 9 meters and it is higher for a 1.35 meters than it was in 2010. Stream should not come to the city, because canals will stop it”, said Mićić for RTRS.
Moreover, he added that Crnjelovo is completely safe.

According to his words UNHCR sent two helicopters with food, but also appeal that Bijeljina needs other necessities as well.

“We need everything, especially blankets. The whole city is under the water. There is no electricity, bakeries are not working” added Mićić.
