atanasius bishopHis Grace Bishop of Bihac-Petrovac Athanasius and members of the Metropolitan Council and Metropolitan board of the Bihac-Petrovac Eparchy concluded that the number of Orthodox believers in the area of this eparchy decreases from year to year.

At the meetings of the Metropolitan Council and Metropolitan board of directors, it is concluded that the younger population and entire families, are leaving to the major cities of the Republika Srpska and Europe.

Young people who decide to stay in their home place do not come into the marital relationship and in most cases enter the middle and old age as a single.

The statement adds that every year the believers’ age increases, because the number of marriages decreases and therefore the number of born children decreases.

Bishop Athanasius announced that, in the coming period, he will call singles and older people from their eparchies to get in some of the monasteries of the Bihac-Petrovac Eparchy, in order to enrich the monasteries in Krajina
