Blanusa: Urgent Introduction of Zero VAT Rate on Basic Products and Reduction of Excise Duty on Fuel

The president of the Serbian Democratic Party, Branko Blanuša, points out that “human beings cannot understand the selfishness of the delegates in the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, who for two years have blocked the adoption of amendments to the VAT Law by which SDS proposes the introduction of a zero VAT rate on bread, milk, dairy products, medicines, health aids, seeds and planting material, and animal feed”.

“We have the lowest pensions in Europe and very expensive medicines, but there are some people who don’t care and don’t want to make it easier for pensioners to survive. We have the lowest wages in Europe and the highest percentage of poor people, but some people don’t want to make it possible for everyone to have at least bread, milk and medicine,” says Blanuša.

Blanuša points out that, due to the war in the Middle East, we are also faced with wild fuel prices.

“Our farmers know best what this means for spring sowing, and all citizens will also feel it through the increase in the price of vegetables and food. We see that the prices of planting material have also risen significantly, and isn’t it normal to act preventively and make maximum efforts to maintain last year’s sowing price!? Maybe the delegates with their high incomes are not worried about the inevitable increase in food prices, but they are not there for themselves, but for those who chose them and whose families will be hungry because of their negligence”, he points out.

The president of the SDS, Branko Blanuša, asked the representatives and delegates to urgently adopt the introduction of a zero VAT rate on basic products, but also to reduce excise taxes on fuel.

“This is the only way we can protect the standard of the population and preserve social peace. If we are not responsible today, in September we will have more hungry than full, and that is why I am asking the Government of Republika Srpska to adopt intervention measures without delay to help agricultural and economic production and prevent an inflationary blow,” Blanuša warned.
