Blockade of Parliaments continues, No Sessions in September

The House of Peoples and the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly have not held a single session since their constitution.

Attempts to hold extraordinary sessions have failed as SNSD party lawmakers and delegates refuse to have Parliament work until Bosnia and Herzegovina’s (BiH) Chairman of Council of Ministers is appointed.

During this time, all this did not prevent parliamentarians from receiving high salaries and traveling to foreign countries.

August is also the month of collective holidays, but September is completely empty when it comes to parliamentary obligations.

No date is marked as the day of the sessions, so it is certain that the blockade continues.

The warnings that the work of the highest legislative body in the country was blocked due to political obstruction and calls for the international community to intervene and punish the politicians and parties responsible for it failed, News Agency Patria reports.

Although both the House of Representatives and the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliament have long been constituted on the basis of the results of the October 2018 elections, they have not made any decisions for months.

This is due to the fact that no parliamentary committee has been set up to consider draft decisions and laws before deliberations in the House sessions.

The establishment of these commissions was blocked by the Union of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), Milorad Dodik, who is seeking to first set up the Chairman of BiH Council of Ministers.
