Bosnian arrived in Mecca after 185 Days of Walking

Enver Beganovic (52) from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) who lives in Austria, after 185 days of walking, arrived in Mecca from Austria to perform the Hajj, one of the five pillars of Islam.

On November 18th last year, Beganovic set off on foot from Mauthausen towards Mecca, where he arrived on Sunday.

He traveled 6.600 kilometers long.

“I came up with the idea because I always knew that as a Muslim, one day in my life I should go to Hajj. I felt that the way and pace of life took me far away from the way I was raised as a child – to believe in God, to be grateful to God. That’s how my mother and father taught me,” Beganovic told earlier while he was in the Iraqi city of Kirkuk.

As he said, during the journey of thousands of kilometers, he did not encounter any problems, on the contrary, he received, as he said, unexpected help and support from people.

“I had nice meetings with people. I didn’t experience anything bad anywhere. It exceeded all my expectations. The attitude of people towards me, the support of people who get to know my mission, I have only the most beautiful impressions of all the countries I passed through,“ said Beganovic.

Also, he mentioned he decided to go on the pilgrimage on foot because he was an athlete and was used to walking long distances.

He added that during the months of walking to the holy land, he never got tired.

Hajj is one of the five Islamic pillars according to Sharia regulations. Every Muslim adult who is physically, mentally, and financially able is obliged to make a pilgrimage to the Kaaba in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, stay on Arafat, visit Safa and Marwa once in his life, and perform other duties, N1 reports.
