school”Bosnian school ” was officially opened last weekend in Chicago, which is the only one of its kind in the United States, and it operates in accordance with the Ministry of Civil Affairs of B&H.

Enisa Hadzovic attended the event as the Consulate General of B&H in Chicago. On this occasion, she emphasized to parents and their children the importance of learning and preservation of the Bosnian language, and the study of the history and culture of their country as the pillars of the preservation of their own identity in the territory of North America.

“Bosnian School,” which operates under the Bosnian Islamic Cultural Center in Chicago, was launched in 2012 at the initiative of professor of Bosnian language and literature, Amina Sendic-Mesic, and over a hundred students is already attending it. Professor Enis Omerovic is leading the school together with her, and he emphasized that the parents who recognize the importance of this type of education are primarily responsible for this success as well as the director of the Center, Muriz Mesic, who is supporting this project together with the Steering Committee.

As of this year, the entire curriculum is aligned with the textbook for the additional classes for children abroad, which is intended for students from the 1st to the 4th grade. This move gives large importance to this project, which is led by these young and educated people with great enthusiasm.

Support for this project is coming from members of the women’s group “Bosnjakinja (Bosnian woman),” which are evoking smiles on the faces of the little children by preparing food and excursions every weekend.
