10153323_1736571056579571_1592406617_nIn the previous period, a group of European parliamentarians stayed in the United States in order to work on finding solutions for the refugee crisis that is currently taking place in the EU by learning from experience of refugees who came in this country in the 90’s.

The attention of European parliamentarians was particularly attracted by a successful story of many Bosnians who have integrated into the local community after they escaped from the horrors of war in BiH.

Parliamentarians visited the US state of Idaho, where lives around 4,000 BiH citizens who escaped during the war in BiH.

US media reports that seven European parliamentarians visited this BH community in Boise. Bosnians prepared lunch for them and introduced them with their refugee experience and the process of integration in the community.

“The biggest challenge for all refugees is learning the new language and adapting to the new culture. After all, we are all human beings and we have the same values. We have a lot in common,” said Maya Duratovic, a spokeswoman of the Cultural Center of BiH in Boise.

Bosnians emphasized that they never forgot where they came from and never gave up on the Bosnian tradition.

US media reported that Bosnians explained to European parliamentarians what helped them the most upon their arrival in the United States to better integrate into American society. This would ultimately help European parliamentarians in their efforts to accommodate and integrate Syrian refugees in the EU countries.
