In the part of hangar in Luka near Brčko, the first museum “Memorial room-Museum of Detainees”, dedicated to all detainees victims of torture in the last war in Bosnia-Herzegovina, will be opened.
Archives, photographs, parts of clothes and shoes of the former detainees will form the part of this museum exhibition.
“Memorial room-Museum of Detainees” was opened by the Chairman of Presidency B&H Bakir Izetbegović. He said that detainees were not guilty because they did not fit in the fascist projections. Moreover, he emphasized that the opening of this museum sends a clear message that no other concentration camps should be opened in this country. In addition, he says that crime cannot become obsolete and that villains have to be responsible for their misdeeds.
Concentration camp in Luka in Brčko was opened on 7th May 1992. Around 3 500 people were captured, and it is presumed that several hundred of people were killed.
With opening of this museum, detainees want to send a clear message, which says that the things happened should not be forgotten and should not be repeated.
In Bosnia-Herzegovina, there was around 55 000 detainees, 30 000 were killed and 25 000 men and women were raped in camps during the war.
