Head of the military part of the Mission of Bosnia and Herzegovina to NATO in Brussels and the military representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the European Union, Brigadier Edin Fako, spoke with the Chairman of the European Union Military Committee, General Robert Brieger, about the results achieved in the previous period and plans for the upcoming period.
Brigadier Fako expressed his desire for greater involvement of Bosnia and Herzegovina in activities, exercises, education and distribution of information, especially those related to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
They also discussed the possible visit of the EU Military Committee to Bosnia and Herzegovina next year, with the aim of continuing cooperation between this body in the EU and the defense and security bodies in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
General Brieger particularly emphasized the need for BiH to continue participating in EU-led operations, and both interlocutors expressed the desire and hope that the authorities in BiH will soon make a decision on the continuation of the participation of the Armed Forces of BiH in the EU-led mission in the Central African Republic (CAR).
Brigadier Edin Fako also met with the commander of the NATO School Oberammergau based in the Federal Republic of Germany (NSO), Colonel Jay Smith, who introduced him to the structure, goals and achieved results of the NSO in the past period, and presented ideas for future plans.
During the presentation, Colonel Smith stated that during one year, more than 11,000 participants attend various courses at that school, with a tendency to increase the number of participants in 2023, announced the Military Part of the Mission of Bosnia and Herzegovina to NATO.
The commander of the NSO in Oberammergau particularly stressed the need for Bosnia and Herzegovina to send a military representative to the NSO as soon as possible, which would make it possible for BiH to be the 24th country in a row that actively participates in the development of skills and education of participants who come from different countries and continents to education at NSO.
