British Embassy: Republika Srpska is not threatened nor can it exist outside BiH

The Embassy of Great Britain in Bosnia and Herzegovina made an announcement regarding the claims of Milorad Dodik about the alleged peaceful disassociation and secession from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The embassy says that imminent threats by the Government of Republika Srpska to carry out a “peaceful separation” from Bosnia and Herzegovina are not only dangerous, but also based on incorrect assumptions:

“It is not true that the Republika Srpska is threatened, under threat or undesirable. The Republika Srpska is a legitimate and integral part of BiH. It is not true that the Republika Srpska can secede from BiH, nor that it can exist outside the state. The Republika Srpska exists only as an entity within BiH Its existence is the result, and guaranteed, of the Dayton Peace Agreement. It is not true that Mr. Dodik’s activities protect the Republika Srpska in any way. The President of the Republika Srpska is well aware of the legal facts and the division is wrong,” the embassy points out.

In the end, they conclude that it is not true that politics in Bosnia and Herzegovina should be like this.

“There are people who want to be leaders through cooperation and dialogue. We encourage all leaders to resist these false narratives and to shift their focus to joint action with the goal of a better future for all,” concludes the British Embassy.
